Meals on Wheels

On Tuesday's I deliver "Meals on Wheels". It doesn't take very long and I really like doing it.
I do the same route most of the time and I've really gotten attached to the people that I deliver to. I've already had one of the ladies die that I deliver to. It's funny how they come and go on the route. Some of the people I deliver to are in wheel chairs and others are just elderly and they don't drive any more. It's actually been a blessing in my life to be able to do this, it is extremely rewarding.

Seminary Bingo

I subbed for seminary today. The day went well, I was left with a lesson or a scripture activity.
I chose the scripture activity. I had the students write some notes for our teacher who is leaving along with a scripture. I was totally impressed with all of them. They applied the scripture to their note. They were great, the youth always impress me with their incredible knowledge of the scriptures. After they finished the notes we played scripture BINGO. They love getting candy when they get BINGO. The day went well.

Thank You Cards

I got a really nice surprise yesterday. I opened the door and a lady handed me an envelope with all these nice cards in it. What did I do???? I won a raffle about a month ago. It was the first time I've ever won one. It was a 50/50 raffle so I donated some of the money back to the 4th grade for their field trip. It was their way of saying "thank you" for the donation. It just made my day to have all these nice colorful handmade cards. They said they were going to get t-shirts and milkshakes for their trip to Cody.

Kendo with the Bateman's

While we were in Omaha, visiting with Michael, he showed us his Kendo gear. Michael and his two oldest girls are learning Kendo together. Kendo is an art of Japanese swordsmanship. Right now I think he's putting on the tare which is a waist protection.

The head and shoulder protection are called the "men" and the "do" is the chest protection.

Here he is all done with his protective armor on which is called the "bogu". The bamboo sword is called the shinai.

She gets in the first hit.

Does this look fair???

The only time you're allowed to hit your dad. I think they do it so they can get back at each other. They actually get in competitions and go as a family. I thought it was really interesting.
I learn something new every day.

I exercise at the Rec center every morning that I can. On Friday's it's really hard to get out of bed and go so I've decided to do water aerobics. It's really been fun and gives me something to look forward to instead of the same old stuff. By the time I get home I've already showered and all I have to do is fix my hair. It's a good change from the rest of the week. Have a great weekend everyone.

Golf class

I've been taking a golf class on Tuesday nights. Last night was our last night of practice. I had a really good teacher and I feel more confident with my swing. The first night he corrected my stance. The second class he corrected my hips. The third night he corrected my grip. The fourth night he corrected...you get the picture, 6 weeks of lessons and we corrected something every time. Now we just need to get out and see if has helped me with the real game.

Seminary

I subbed for seminary today. For the most part it went well. We did an outside activity first so I knew it was going to be hard to get the kids back and focused. Most of the classes did really well.
One class not too well, but their regular teacher will be there tomorrow so he'll get them back together. All and all it was an interesting day. I'm glad I get to teach seminary once and a while.

Deer

This picture was taken in November, look how green the grass was then. This little buck spent the weekend right behind our fence in the alley. The dog didn't even bark at it or chase it away.
One time they were sleeping nose to nose. We tried to get a picture of it but our dog is camera shy and would run away when we went outside. I guess this is one of the reason I like where I live because the deer are up and down our street all the time.

Humanitarian Project

Ruth is the designer of my blog so far. She is helping me and giving me ideas of what to put on. These are little dolls that we are making in our ward for the humanitarian project. We meet on the second Wednesday of the month to work on projects. I really enjoy getting together with the other sisters and accomplishing things.

5th try...

I am finally starting to blog. This is about my 5th attempt. I had to have Ruth help me get the picture. We had to just start over to get this to work. I will figure this out eventually.
Curt is working in Utah this week. I'm sure glad we have cells phones because I can keep in contact with him. I miss him when he's out of town, and I sure enjoy having him home.
